LoveYerGuts Run NZ Virtual Challenge

Take a virtual run or walk around beautiful Aotearoa! The Gut Cancer Foundation are proud to be partnering with the Run NZ App for the LoveYerGuts Run NZ Virtual Challenge,

Each year, gut cancers kill more New Zealanders than prostate and breast cancer combined. Join up to the LoveYerGuts Run NZ challenge and raise vital funds for innovative research and clinical trials to improve the survival rates and quality of life for gut cancer patients.

Regular exercise has been proven to reduce your risk of developing a gut cancer so your Run NZ Challenge will not only support the 14 Kiwis a day who are diagnosed with a gut cancer but also raise awareness and promote healthy living.

You don’t need to be an athlete to sign up – it’s not a race and you can run or walk your challenge. Track the daily progress of your journey around NZ on the Run NZ app.

Gut Cancer Foundation

Gut Cancer Foundation is dedicated to improving the survival rates, life expectancy and quality of life for gut cancer patients through funding world class, innovative research and clinical trials into the causes, treatments, prevention and detection of gut cancers. We aim to increase awareness of gut cancers so people seek help sooner.

Gut cancer is the term used for the group of cancers that affect the digestive system, i.e. the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gall bladder and bile ducts, pancreas and bowel. It is collectively the most common form of cancer, with over 5,100 new cases diagnosed each year in New Zealand (Ministry of Heath, 2017).

Each year, gut cancers kill more New Zealanders than breast and prostate cancer combined. To improve the survival rates of gut cancers, there is a need to fund clinical research. Unfortunately, there is a critical lack of funding available for gut cancer clinical trials in New Zealand. With your help, we can ensure that patients in New Zealand have access to new treatments faster.

Together, let’s kick cancer in the guts!
