Gut Cancer Foundation

Gut Cancer Foundation is dedicated to improving the survival rates, life expectancy and quality of life for gut cancer patients through funding world class, innovative research and clinical trials into the causes, treatments, prevention and detection of gut cancers. We aim to increase awareness of gut cancers so people seek help sooner.

Gut cancer is the term used for the group of cancers that affect the digestive system, i.e. the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gall bladder and bile ducts, pancreas and bowel. It is collectively the most common form of cancer, with over 5,100 new cases diagnosed each year in New Zealand (Ministry of Heath, 2017).

Each year, gut cancers kill more New Zealanders than breast and prostate cancer combined. To improve the survival rates of gut cancers, there is a need to fund clinical research. Unfortunately, there is a critical lack of funding available for gut cancer clinical trials in New Zealand. With your help, we can ensure that patients in New Zealand have access to new treatments faster.

Together, let’s kick cancer in the guts!
